 Welcome to our church

Welcome to our 10am service!

St Martin’s is a friendly community and we do our best both to recognise and welcome first-time visitors. We would like to say ‘hello’ to you over Fairtrade tea or coffee after of the service, if you are able to stay

What happens?

  • Worship (singing and led prayer) and teaching (The Rector gives a talk on the bible passages that have been read that day)
  • We have Children’s Groups for the under 8’s and 9+ (the older children also have a light breakfast at the start of their group)
  • We don’t worry about noisy children!
  • Service lasts about 50 – 60 minutes
  • We share Holy Communion together most weeks. (Communion is the sharing of the bread and wine.  You are welcome to share this with us if it is something you are used to receiving. Otherwise please come up for a blessing, keeping your hands by your side)
  • There is a collection during one of the hymns (we call this the offertory hymn) if you wish to give to the work of the church

Will I have to do anything?

  • Nothing is compulsory! You don’t need to join in anything unless you want to. All the service words are in a booklet that you will be given, along with a hymnbook. You don’t need to sing if you are not happy with that
  • You’re welcome to sit anywhere (there is some standing during the service but do remain seated if it is a problem – there will be others who do this too)
  • There’s no dress code  St. Martins

How do I get in?

  • There is parking in our Car Park if you are attending the church, parish centre or graveyard
  • We have step free access

Accessibility

  • Room for buggies inside and toilets & baby changing facilities in our adjacent Parish Centre
  • Hearing loop
  • Space for wheelchairs
  • Large print books are available

There is also a service each Sunday at  St Mary’s, our other church in Knebworth Park.  The small congregation there meets to worship at 8am Holy

Communion (Book of Common Prayer) or for Evensong  (Please see dates and times on our services page)
